Hello!!! How have you been?
Apologies for my recent online absence….I’ve been a little busier than I had anticipated due to a recent flurry of in person classes & events. Because I host the majority of my in person classes & events at home I seem to spend a huge amount of timing cleaning up, so it’s ready for guests….If it’s not my own crafty mess that I need to pack away, then it’s the chaos that comes with sharing my abode with a loving but messy husband, our two teenage sons, & a fun but frantic 6 month old golden retriever puppy. While they are all totally delightful & I wouldn’t have it any other way
most days anyway 😉, tidying up after them does eat into my time.
But enough about my domestic woes, lets talk about this beautifully bright & punchy card that I made yesterday as a part of the AddINKtive design team. I was scrolling through Pinterest, looking for inspiration when I came across a card by the fabulous Allison Okamitsu, from Nice People Stamp. As soon as I saw it, I just knew that I had to make my own version of it! So I sent the lovely Allison a message asking if it would be OK for me Case her design, & she said yes!! If you’d like to, you can see her card, by clicking here. Allison if you happen to read this, please know that I’m sending you hugs & kisses all the way to Canada from Australia xo
Now let me fill you in on some of the details that make this card really eye catching & special!
Firstly, I’ve got to say that the Colour Combo of Pineapple Punch (it’s a current In Colour) Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay & Whisper White, is incredible. It just shouts fun & frivolity!! And it kind of smacks you right in the face…you really can’t miss it!!
Secondly, a lot of credit needs to go to the Blow Out The Candles stamp set. This is a set that had gone completely under my radar until earlier this week. Wow am I glad that I ordered it!! It’s such a versatile little set, loaded with fun sentiments & easy to use images …I mean nothing else says “It’s a Birthday” quite like cake, candles & balloons do!!
Next on the hit list, is the fact that it’s a pretty pocket card…It’s no secret that I enjoy making pocket cards, they are so quick & easy to make, but are just a little bit different to a normal folded card. If you’d like to create your own pocket card you can click here for the tutorial.
By now you might have noticed the final element that makes this card really special….it’s not just a pocket card, it’s a STAND UP pocket card!!! I’d had the idea of creating a support/stand for a pocket card for months, so it was just a matter of time before I put my idea into action & now that I’ve done it, I’m super happy with the result 🙂
I’ve added a couple of pics below to show you what the support/stand looks like.
As you can see I’ve adhered an additional piece of cardstock (& some twine not pictured) to the belly band to act as the support. It folds flat for posting Yay!!…& can then be used to stand the card in an upright position, so that you can put it on your mantelpiece, desk or table & admire your card from afar….I don’t know about you, but I love receiving cards for a special occasion, putting them on my sideboard, & being able to see them from the lounge, & dining rooms.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project, if you’ve got any questions or just want to make my day, please don’t hesitate to ask or leave me a comment in the comments section below. Your kindness always makes me smile :-).
Much Love, K xo
