Hello & welcome to the August, Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop.
For those of you, who don’t know me, my name is Katrina Duffell, & I’m an Independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from Sydney, Australia.
The focus for this month’s Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop, (#SDBH) is the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. Now is the perfect time to start thinking about Christmas, & working out which projects you want to make. If I wait until December to start making cards etc, it’s just gets too stressful, trying to fit it all in. So my advice is to get organised now, & enjoy a relaxed festive season.
I know, I know…Christmas in Australia is usually somewhere between pretty warm to scorching hot & there’s no snow to be found….but why let that stand in the way of creating this cute as a button card?
Isn’t making what you want, when you want, a big part of the joy of crafting?
That & the fact that I really couldn’t resist the endearingly sweet Mr & Mrs Claus images from the Signs of Santa photopolymer Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!.
What makes this card extra special is that, it came about as the result of a stuff up on my part….
I was attempting to make a shaker card, but for some reason
(I might’ve been enjoying a cheeky glass of festive fizz) I wasn’t paying enough attention & I cut an extra hole where I didn’t mean to…oops!
So because I was feeling super creative
(thanks to the festive fizz), I embraced the challenge, & decided to turn the extra hole into a double sided window, & make a “Double Window Shaker Card”…. is that even a thing? Maybe I’ve invented something new?!
As you can see in the pic below, the card base has been cut “easel” style, so it makes an A-frame shape when it’s standing up, & creates a cute little peekaboo window to glimpse Mr & Mrs Claus through.
The lovely collar/frame around the outside of the window is from the Detailed Baubles Thinlits Dies set. Paired with some iridescent sequins for faux snow, I think it’s the perfect finishing touch
I hope you’ve enjoyed my sneak peek at some of the products in the upcoming Holiday Catalogue & are feeling inspired to start “getting your Christmas on”, sooner.. rather then later.
Don’t forget to come back & visit me here at the Ink Paper Girl blog again soon, or pop along to one of my in person classes….I have a feeling that Mr & Mrs Claus might be making a special appearance at next months classes.
Want to make my day? It’s easy, simply leave me a comment in the comments section below. I’d love to know what you think 🙂
Much Love, K xo
