Stampin’ Up! Graceful Garden with Katrina Duffell from Ink Paper Girl

Hello!! I’m so excited about today’s blog post. Mostly because I’ve finally had time to create a couple of projects to share with you ….& then because I have a fantastic deal to share with you, that I know you are going to want to hear about.

So let’s start by talking about these two cards that I made using the large rose stamp image from the Graceful Garden stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! Graceful Garden with Katrina Duffell from Ink Paper Girl – Single Merry Merlot Rose

The first card is a simple, classic red rose. As you are probably aware, Stampin’ Up! recently announced their Colour Revamp, which means there are a total of 16 beautiful new colours to play with.  Now I LOVE colour, so I’ve been chomping at the bit to try them all out. One of the colours that I hadn’t gotten around to using was the new Merry Merlot. Turn’s out it was a perfect choice for my rose petals, and it’s named after wine…which is a win, win in my books ;-)..

To balance the look I used the returning Mossy Meadow ink colour to paint in the stem & the leaves. You can find both of these colours in the revamped Neutrals Ink Pad colour family.

Get the Look: Get a “No Lines” look to your water colouring by stamping your image using a light, complimentary coloured ink. I used Crumb Cake which is also a part of the Neutrals colour family. You can then fill in the image using darker colours just like I have. Because all 3 of my inks were water based, I was able to use an Aquapainter (water brush) to seamlessly blend them together. The end result is a “No Lines” water coloured image, that your family & friends will ooh & ah over

For my second card, I decided to step things up a little by adding in a few more roses. I used the same process that I outlined in the “Get the Look” section above, & just changed up the colours. These super soft, super pretty roses are the result of using the new Petal Pink, new Highland Heather & Calypso Coral ink colours together. All three of these colours are from the Subtles colour family. I’d love to tell you which greens & blues I used to colour the stems & leaves but I’ve totally forgotten…sorry!

Get the Look: Stamp multiple overlapping images by using a masking technique. I stamped my chosen image onto a large sized post it note & then cut it out using my paper snips. The cut out image is then my “mask”, which I was able to easily place over a previously stamped image to protect it from another outline being stamped over the top of it.

  1. oh my goodness, your cards are amazing, I am going to try and reproduce………………..will not be even half as good as yours. However its people like you that do inspire us to try harder. Beautiful

    1. Awww thank you Barbara. You’re just too lovely. You should definitely give the “no lines” watercolouring a go. Time & patience are the best tools to have…. my next best tip is: Don’t colour two petals that are touching at the same time. The colours will bleed & you’ll end up with a big mess. I hope that helps, & I’d love to see what you come up with. Much love, K xo
