I know I’ve probably said it before, but I’ll say it again, I LOVE Friday afternoons…
Well I love the feeling of freedom that I get on a Friday afternoon once my two boys get home from school…all my cares & worries about our weekday routine go out the window, & we are free to do as we please, until Monday comes around again.
So with that in mind I wanted to share a couple of cards that I made earlier during the week, that I think are perfect to make on a relaxed Friday evening, or even over the weekend.
Now let me tell you a story about the inspiration behind these cards…..It’s a bit strange, & I’m sure you’ll scratch your head & wonder where on earth I’m going with the story but, stick with me, it’ll be worth it in the end….(well the cards prove that right), & it’ll show you that inspiration can come from anywhere at anytime
So earlier this week I was online searching for a dog breeder (as we dearly want to add a puppy to our family…it’s OK I’ve raised puppies before, I know what I’m in for). One of the breeders names that came up when I was searching was Delft Blue & it had a cute pic of a lovely puppy, but not much else, so without thinking properly I just typed in the words Delft Blue & hit enter…I was rewarded not with pictures of puppies or information on a particular breeder as I’d expected, but I was instead rewarded with pictures of beautiful blue & white china in all sorts of amazing patterns & designs. The kind of lovely china that I often see in beautifully styled Hampton’s themed homes that pop up in my Pinterest feed..(I’m also a self confessed Hampton’s style freak, I just adore all the lovely blue & white, the coral, the woven furniture, the warmth, but also the restraint of the rooms, the beautiful textures in the fabrics, the white wash panelled walls….see what I mean, the word obsessed springs to mind). Seeing all of that lovely china must have turned on a light bulb in my head & so rather then closing that window, I kept it open to come back too, once I finished searching for the information that I was looking for. And there you have it…my inspiration for these cards started with a search about dogs…I told you it was strange right?! But it goes to prove my point that inspiration can come from anywhere at anytime.
As for the cards themselves, they were a delight to make. I used one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp sets called Amazing You & paired it with another Sale-A-Bration freebie, the Celebrate You Thinlits dies. You can still get either, or better yet, both of these items for FREE, but you only have until the end of the month (March 31st) to add them to your stash.
I cut out 3 sentiments for each card & stacked them on top of each other. The bottom two layers were cut out of whisper white thick cardstock & the top layer has been cut out of the Glossy White cardstock, so it’s super shiny & looks just like its been heat embossed, but without the mess.
Top Tip: Try using Glossy White Cardstock to create sentiments that look like they’ve been heat embossed.
Both cards were stamped using the same flower image in Night of Navy ink. I used the Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends to colour in the flowers on card & the background on the other card. I used the Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter marker to create the textured look of the blue background.
If you want to get your hands on the Stampin’ Blends then you’ll need to them order tonight, as they have been incredibly popular, & the demand has outstripped the supply. Stampin’ Up! will be turning off the item numbers for the Stampin’ Blends (at 5am AEST on Saturday 24th of March) until they have been able to replenish their stock levels….which should be sometime in May…
I hope I’ve inspired you to make something amazing this weekend.
Don’t forget to leave me a comment & let me know what you think 🙂
Much Love, K xo
